Who Will Have the Worst Record in 2018?

Only one-quarter into the season, there were a lot of surprises. Teams that we thought would win easily ended up in shootouts. Teams that we thought would lose put up big numbers. Looking at you Tampa Bay. So what are we to do? Predict the worst teams this year! Let’s look at some of the teams with the potential to be the worst team this year, based on their week 1-4 performances.

Bills
This team is definitely the top of the list. The lowest scoring team in week 1 with only 3 points, they were blown out by the Baltimore Ravens. This game is primarily the reason that the Bills have a -56 point differential so far this season. Josh Allen looks like he will be in for a rough season trying to put points on the board. No to mention an overall offense/defense that rank towards the bottom in the league.
Final Record: 3-13

Colts
You would think that with Andrew Luck finally returning to the offense that the Colts would be back on track, right? Well, that hasn’t turned out to be the case this year. Their offense has sputtered at times and their defense hasn’t done the team any favors this year. I can see the Colts on the edge of a lot of close games this year that they just won’t be able to finish.
Final Record: 6-10

Cardinals
This pains me to list my own team. However, the Cardinals are near the bottom in EVERY offensive category. A top-20 defense won’t be able to bail out a during offense as much as a top-5 defense would. This could be a disaster year for my Cardinals if they can’t capture some mojo on offense. The Cardinals ripped the Bradford-bandaid off in the 4th quarter of week three, giving the keys to the 1st-round rookie, Josh Rosen. The offense has seen more productivity, but I’m afraid that my Cardinals are in a whole that they won’t be able to rebound from. I see at least 8 more losses from teams like the Chiefs, Rams, Vikings, etc.
Final Record: 4-12

Raiders
This was definitely a shock to me. First, losing Khalil Mack demolished any chance of their defense being top-tier. Second, Derek Carr having 7 interceptions in just 4 games is not a good look. The Raiders have a point differential of -26, there are too many obstacles for this team to overcome this year with their new coach John Gruden. I can easily see this being a year where the Raiders want to have the highest draft picks possible, but will they equal the production that Khalil Mack is currently putting up?
Final Record: 4-12

49ers
This team had no intentions of making my list this year. In the offseason, they had everything going well for them. Jimmy G locked up with a new deal, revitalized defense, improved skill positions. But the injury bug has bitten this team, and I mean badly. Backup QB C.J. Beathard has been leading the team to a -18 point differential. Things won’t get any easier for the 49ers, as they still have teams to play like Green Bay, and the Rams/Seahawks twice each.
Final Record: 4-12

I do think that the Bills will end up with the worst record as they are not finished with their rebuilding process. NFL teams led by a rookie can really be hard to watch, I feel for Buffalo. They have the tools on defense, but the offense will have to find their groove quick, fast, and in a hurry, if they want to salvage their season. It’s going to be a long year indeed.

*All of these predicted teams are barring injury, trades, & firings, of course.
