What are the chances of the number one team in the NBA the Phoenix Suns, to finish as the champion of the basketball world.
The Suns currently hold the leagues top record with a chance to get in the top record holders if they pass the 64 win mark.
There have been instances where the team that had the record setting win total in a season did not finish the deal.
The team with the most wins in a season in NBA history are the 2015-2016 Golden State Warriors, winning 73 games with a 49.5 shooting percentage and lost the Championship.
In that same season 2015-2016 the San Antonio Spurs finished in the West with 67 wins behind Golden States league leading 73 and neither were the team to win it all that season.
The 2015-2016 season champions were the 57 win Cleveland Cavaliers lead by Lebron James.
So, one could argue that the team that has the best player in the league usually wins the title.
When the Warriors had the leagues best team record at 73, it was over shadowed by the best player winning the title in Lebron James.
The seasons the Warriors actually beat Lebron’s Cavs, they had the leagues best players those years in Steph Curry and Kevin Durant.
All six times the Bulls won the Championship it’s no secrete they possessed the leagues most dominate player Micheal Jordan, and it didn’t matter the win total.
As it stands right now the Phoenix Suns will finish with the leagues best record, and the question will be, do they have the leagues best player on their team to win the title this year.
Currently the MVP race has five top players in the league, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, Lebron James, and Devin Booker in the 5th spot after coming on strong after the All-star break and holding it down for an injured Chris Paul.
If history continues to repeat itself, one of these players and their team will be hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy at seasons end.

Can Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns win this title this year, the answer is yes they could, and if they do, will they have had the best player in the league.
The answer is yes.
You don’t have to be the most talented player to be the best player in the league, all that matters is that you be the most dominant in the moment of a seven game series in the NBA Finals.
Which ever one of these MVP candidates win the title will most likely be the Finals MVP, and for that moment as the last team standing, that player will be the best player in the league.
