Phoenix Mercury Could be Turning the Season Corner

The Phoenix Mercury has won three games in a row, following the departure of former teammate newcomer Tina Charles.

Charles left for the Seattle Storm as the team had what is called a divorce contract situation.

Which is another way of saying, Charles did not want to waste time not being on a contender, complained about her role, and apparently embellished some injuries to miss games.

The veteran wants to be part of a contender, which before she signed had star Center Britney Griner as a running mate. The team on paper was a championship contender after coming up short of the Finals last year.

The departure of Charles set the team off to an angry-led energy that re-focused the team to be one unit.

Star guard Sophie Cunningham let out her frustrations after the comeback gritty win in Dallas, she shouted out what she thought of a teammate that gave up on its team mid-season.

“(Bleep) Tina Charles” shouted the enthusiastic sharp shooter surrounded by her teammates.

Then the Mercury commenced on a three-game winning streak, one that featured smothering defense and ball movement.

In the second game versus the Fever, The Mercury had seven players in double figures and racked up a high 27 assist,s and scored 99 points. Following one of the games of the three-win streak, Diana Taurasi addressed the crowd and continued to declare “Good things are coming” talking about the play of the team going forward.

Can this be the turning point to a season that has been very difficult and frustrating, or was the three-game win streak part of the weak part of the schedule?

That will be determined when Mercury head to Chicago to take on Candice Parker and the league-leading Sky.
