Another D-Backs Rookie With Shutout Debut

With the Padres having a talented roster even with the Tatis jr suspension the team knew Jameson had an uphill battle.  Manny Machado, Juan Soto, and Jake Cronenworth as the 1,2,3 hitters is a lot to ask of a rookie.  All three Padres players hit an astounding 0 times against the rookie sensation.  Only two pitchers have gone 7 innings in their major league debut without allowing a run and both pitchers are on the Arizona Diamondbacks.  The first pitcher was Ryne Nelson who is now at 13 innings scoreless and now the newest D-back to join the club is Drey Jameson.

Drey Jameson was a AAA pitcher for the Reno Aces.  Drey is a 25 year old rookie from Greenfield Indiana that definitely made his hometown proud.  Will his success be sustainable?  Fans definitely hope so but with over a 6 ERA in AAA it is hard to see a future where he becomes another stud pitcher for Arizona but only time can tell.

Ketel Marte with all his struggles this season earned the first run of the game hitting his 11th home run to move ahead of the Padres early.  In the same inning Emmanuel Rivera hit the second home run of the game and Arizona never looked back.  In the 7th Carson Kelly hit the third home run, and in the 8th Christian Walker joined the fun by hitting a single, scoring Stone Garrett with the 4th run.  With the huge help of Jameson the game felt in hand the entire game.

With today’s victory of 4-0 that makes Arizona only 2 games from 70 which most fans would’ve said is best case scenario for this team.  Every day it seems like a new younger face joins this team and makes an immediate impact.  With young teams you can always expect ups and downs but the one thing this team is, they fight back and never give up.
