David Johnson Signs Autographs for Fans

After a tough loss Sunday to the Washington Redskins, close to 200 fans lined up at the Free Agent Sports Fan Cave Sports Collectibles Store in Paradise Valley Mall to meet Cardinals star Running Back David Johnson. Members of the AZ Birdgang Fam were exclusively allowed to say hello, take a picture, and even got an autograph from their favorite Cardinal. We saw plenty of good items being signed; custom helmets, posters, magazine covers. Even a few UNI Mini Helmets showed up to David’s surprise.

Twitter Not Fond of New Stadium Name for the Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals generated a little buzz yesterday, announcing a new naming rights partner, State Farm. The organization has ended their naming rights agreement with The University of Phoenix after a 12-year relationship. The former company will continue to be a partner of the Arizona Cardinals in a smaller relationship. State Farm has agreed to an 18-year naming rights agreement that will rename that stadium “State Farm Stadium.”

My Five Biggest Surprises with the 53 Man Roster

The roster has been set, the Arizona Cardinals have narrowed the team down to 53. I have to admit, there were a lot of surprises for me with this roster. Let me start by saying no, I am not surprised that Mike Glennon is still on the roster. I didn’t see any team jumping up to trade for him and it would have been insane if the Cardinals had two rookies behind Sam Bradford to start the season. Arizona Cardinals Camp Breaks With Uncertainty at Key Positions

As training camp concludes for the Arizona Cardinals have had two pre-season victories that meant nothing in the standings but mean everything in terms of the 53-man roster. After two weeks there are positions that may have gotten a little clearer, such as cornerback opposite Patrick Peterson. Looks like Jamar Taylor has solidified that spot and Bene Benwikere close behind him. These two guys continue to shine in camp and more importantly in live game action. Brandon Williams played deep into the first pre-season game and didn’t see much from him in the second game, he is currently on the bubble have had ample opportunity to emerge but continues to struggle to pick up zone coverage.

With Teams Full of Uncertainty, Loyalty is Key

Sports in Arizona is a unique market. In a state that prides itself as a place to retire and remain active, we get many residents from all over the country. When this happens, they bring their “fanhood” with them. We can’t fault them for it. I would only hope that if Cardinals/Suns/Diamondbacks/Coyotes fans move to another state, they would still root for their home teams. We can, however, certainly fault ourselves for selling our tickets to opposing fans, but that’s a topic for a different day. You would generally expect that the Arizona sports market is lacking when it comes to player loyalty. “Why would anyone want to stay in Arizona when the large markets get to have all the fun and glory?” Historically, Arizona athletes have actually been notably loyal.
