JB & Benny Blue Review 4-8-19

On this episode of the Review, the Savage Duo are joined by friend of the show Chad Carr (Recording Artist & Co-Founder of TrendsCollab) to discuss the legacy left behind by Nipsey Hussle after his untimely death, including building his brand in a unique way, ownership and empowerment, changing the narrative around gang culture, and being a great father and husband. Then, JB and Benny recap the Final Four games and make their uninformed, informed predictions for the NCAA Championship game. Finally, they wrap things up with JB’s patented “You Wit or Not” segment, discussing Paul Pierce’s bold statement, Larry Fitzgerald helping out the Phoenix Suns front office, and more!

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Nipsey Hussle.

While this is a Hip Hop show, Nipsey’s influence goes well beyond music. Yes, music was the foundation but his community minded, independent approach is what his legacy will be remembered for.

Starr Saxxxon and I hope that we were able to highlight some of that as we remember that impacted countless individuals.

Big June stops by to talk about his music and navigating the game hailing from San Diego, CA. Check his history and you will find that he is no stranger to the game. J asks him about challenges that he has faced and overcome and the love that he gets from his community. Big June gets his grind on and you will enjoy.

People on the outside looking in don’t focus on the business component of music. If an artist fails to devote enough time reading the fineprint it can set them back. Enter East Coast spitter Truth (@truthemcee ). As he prepares to release his new album, The Fight for Survival, he links up with J-Luv to talk about the importance of handling your business, following your gut and knowing when to accept help as you travel the music business highway. Truth is a fan of the Sweet Science and has co-signs from PF Cuttin, Large Professor and more. He is well versed in the boom bap sound has the heart of a champion.

Songs from Nipsey Hussle, Truth, Defari, Big June, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Mazhe and more.

His request was born from a tribute the fellas did after the passing of West Coast pioneer and MAAD Circle member, DJ Crazy Toones. Well, Jordan you asked and J-Luv and Starr Saxxxon aim to please. They give a unique review of the project and its significance in a rare time in West Coast Hip Hop releases. Episode 202 sees J-Luv and Starr Saxxxon have a unique conversation, as this is the first MMR conversation with an artist that is currently incarcerated.

Lil Man opens up about his impending life sentence, the respect he continues to receive from the Bay Area Hip Hop community and what he has given up in the name of the Code of the Streets.

Southwest Hip Hop stand up! Runlike stops by to talk with with J about transitioning from being part of a group to being a solo artist and then a solo artist that is part of a Hip Hop Collective. The Arizona lyricist talks about why he chooses to create projects in the one emcee/one producer construct and shares what he has learned from his peers.
