FLEX BOMB: Believe in These Suns

In life they say perception is reality. What people perceive you to be is who you are in their eyes. This leads me to our current Phoenix Suns. A team full of hope and promise much different from years past. The question around this basketball team right now is whether they are truly Title contenders, or is this some crazy mirage that is going to sneak up on our fan base and break the hearts of Planet Orange like John Paxson did in June of 1993. To answer this question you must first take a trip down memory lane.

You see in life they say good things come to those who wait. I personally have been waiting well over 30 years to see this team win a championship and for many on Planet Orange it’s been much longer. But there’s something about this basketball team that feels different, feels fresh and honestly feels special. I completely understand the feelings of the newer generation of Suns fans that have seen nothing but failure and disappointment over the last 10 years. They have never seen the Suns of old,the team that was once a top destination for free agents and players all over the NBA. It’s easy to see how this part of the fan base just doesn’t want to believe that this Suns team is real. They don’t believe that these Suns can do the unthinkable this season, and to that I say BELIEVE!

I truly think that in order to achieve success you must first believe that it’s possible. The definition of faith in its truest form is to believe in something you’ve never seen. So for the Suns fans who have never seen this team succeed it’s going to take faith in this young but extremely talented basketball team. You see I believe the basketball Gods have been blessing our Suns franchise over the last 10 years but we just haven’t been paying attention as closely as we

should. In the middle of this 10 year drought we’ve drafted our Franchise player in Devin Booker 13th overall in the 2015 NBA draft. A twenty four year old Superstar who will likely go down as the greatest player to ever wear a Suns uniform. A player that is capable of scoring 70 points in a basketball game but also willing to be a complete team player by sacrificing stats for wins 48 as of today. They then added Deandre Ayton with the 1st overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft, a twenty two year old Center who is the defensive anchor of a team that is currently one and a half games back from the number one record in the NBA with 4 games to go. They followed that up by trading for the draft rights to Mikal Bridges in the same 2018 draft, a freak NBA defender who can also shoot the basketball and score in transition like a young Scottie Pippen. Now add Cam Johnson to this core, the 11th pick in the 2019 draft and you now have a team good enough to entice the point God himself Chris Paul to join forces with Devin Booker in the Valley of the Sun.

See I believe the last ten years was a blessing in disguises. Monty Williams turned down the opportunity to coach the Laker and Lebron James in 2019 because he believed in the vision that our GM James Jones had. Build it the right way and the success will come! The Golden State Warriors were once a young team, so was the Chicago Bulls of the late 80s and early 90s. This Suns team is indeed young but that doesn’t mean they can’t get the job done. So believe in this team, have faith that what you are seeing might actually be a team of destiny that has been brewing for ten long years and is now ready to explode. They are built for the long run, Booker, Ayton, Bridges, and Johnson are all under the age of 25, Chris Paul is in the best shape of his life at 36 and still has a lot left in the tank. Ive seen alot of great teams in Phoenix ultimately fall short of the ultimate prize, that elusive NBA championship. This team could very well be the team that finally brings that trophy home to downtown Phoenix if we can all just BELIEVE!
